Georgia Flower Art
This was one of the first flower images I did that I really took pride in and it hangs in my house and is one of my Personal Favorites! Enjoy!
If you like flowers be sure to go to my Flowers Collections and view all my beautifully amazing flower images.
I shot these Plumeria flowers in the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center located at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. It is North America's largest glass-enclosed tropical conservatory. The center was named in honor of Cecil B. Day, a philanthropist and the founder of Days Inn. His wife, Deen Day Sanders, donated artwork and financial assistance to Callaway Gardens in his honor.
Opening in 1988, the center houses over a thousand butterflies of over fifty different species. There is a theater room that continuously plays the film Wings of Wonder, an award-winning documentary that examines the life-cycle of a butterfly.
The center has received the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification award which indicates that the building was designed, constructed, and is maintained in ways that are environmentally friendly.
These are Plumeria blossoms and are in a genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It contains primarily deciduous shrubs and small trees. The flowers are native to Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America as far south as Brazil but can be grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions. Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers have no nectar, however, and simply dupe their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar.
The Fine Art America logo will NOT appear on your purchased image.
