The traffic was terrible but I tried to be patient as I hurried to a spot on the west side of the Island of Oahu just north of Waianae in the Hawaiian Islands. I made it just in time and the sunset was magnificent to say the least. Looking back I could have stopped any number of time at other locations on the west side of Oahu and the shot would have been pretty much the same. I was looking for something else, like palm trees to put with the sunset but the sun, ocean and clouds needed no help today!..... Enjoy!

When you first see an image like this you might question whether it really happen as you are seeing here. Red or very brilliant colors in sunrises or sunsets is something that happens, with varying intensity, in many but not all sunsets and sunrises. When it does happen you have to wonder where that color came from for it is soo... red, yellow or orange. Only God can paint a sunrise or a sunset and He does it with perfection every time. Stop and take the time to view a sunrise or sunset, fully. Sometimes these types of colors come out a full 10 Minutes AFTER the sun has gone down. You have to wait.... for the Glory to come out. I have walked away from sunsets thinking them to be over only to look back and see something special.

On a sunrise the most intense colors are found a full 10 minutes BEFORE the sun ever rises. After the sun rises the colors are washed out by the bright light of the rising sun.
