Bishop GA High Shoals Falls Rock Surfing...by Reid Callaway
Apalachee River Landscape Architecture Art
This was a pretty incredible place 'back in the day' when guys like me would surf down these rock shoals bare footed standing up. These rocks are slick as glass after the river has flowed over them for hundreds of years. I was "King Of The Falls' in 1977, winning the rock sliding(surfing) contest back in my youthful age of 30. I now am 76 and live in Hawaii. The wave surfers would have a hard time riding these rocks for it was a technique learned from many slippery fallings. Enjoy!
