The Carlton Home Southern Antebellum Architectural Art
This series of images (3) to produce this single image was at the beginning of my HDR imaging photography experience. Images like this, where you can see the sky blue of the upper story ceiling sold me on HDR photography. The detail provided in HDR imaging was superior to anything I'd seen before or since. Mrs. Carlton's daughter purchased a canvas of this image of her mother's house. I went to see and toured the house in my image. It was more beautiful on the inside than the outside with antiques with which to feast my eyes upon. She opened a book where she showed me a letter penned by Alexander H. Stephens, who served as a U.S. Congressman, Governor of Georgia, and most notably as Vice President of the Confederate States of America, 1861–1865. The letter was written in sympathy to a fallen Confederate soldier's family. What a gracious lady Mrs. Carlton was and a pleasure to visit with.
This beautiful southern living type home is located in beautiful Union Point, GA in Greene County, Georgia. Union Point is a community with a rich historical heritage, developed at the crossing of two railroads in 1834. The city is strewn with historic places and buildings such as elegant Victorian residential and commercial buildings, the Chipman Union Hosiery Mill, the Terrace Hotel Inn and the Bethesda Baptist church, which dates back to 1785.
Union Point's Historic District also boasts the Hawthorne Heights Mansion. Named for the thick hawthorne hedge that surrounds its eight-acre garden, the mansion houses one of the tea bushes Commodore Matthew Perry sent to Washington upon his return from opening Japanese ports to trade in 1854.
Current day attractions in Union City include geocaching and the annual.... Run For Your Lives Race Series, a 5K course that challenges runners to tackle 12 obstacles and at the same time dodge a mob of zombies.
